I wanted to treat myself with some self-indulgence and decided to visit Ilse Jacobsen Spa in Hornbaek, which is an hour drive north from Copenhagen. I went with a good friend of mine, Christina, whom I have known since elementary school.
When arriving at Ilse Jacobsen Spa we got a warm welcome from Ilse Jacobsen herself. She showed us around in the spa while I asked questions regarding the spa and her life. Ilse is known from her rain boots (or at least that’s what I think of when name-dropping “Ilse Jacobsen”) but there is so much more to come for. Ilse lives in Hornbaek as has established her own clothing and footwear design, flower boutique, beauty product line, “kurbadet” which is not just a spa but includes restaurant, gym, beauty salon and much more. She is ambitious, self-driven, positive and truly inspirational. Her personality is reflected in the spa where warmness and personal relationship to the customers are through my experience the dominant elements.
// We are ready for spa in bathrobe and flip flops… (Even the flip flops are Ilse Jacobsen)
// Spa lounge
// I got the “Ilse luxury facial treatment”, which was cleansing and lots of massage.
// I was amazed by the outdoor pool. I am always cold and are not a fan of cold weather BUT taking a swim in a outdoor heated pool was fantastic. I do not usually wear bikini in grey and rainy weather but I can get use to this.
// Pure relaxation
After my body and mind has been spoiled in the spa we went for lunch at the restaurant where Danish food (when it is best) were on the menu. The food was delicious!
Ilse Jacobsen Spa is the perfect get-away for a day. They have all facilities from facial treatments, gym, sauna, steam, in – and even outdoor pool which was my favorite spot; to go outside when raining and jump in a heated pool was absolutely amazing. My facial treatment was relaxing and soft and a perfect way to relax mind and tension in my face (and head).
Kurbadet’s vibe is intimate and personal, which creates a home-feeling and “I-never-want-to-leave.” My friend and I had spent great quality time and was inspired by talking to Ilse Jacobsen herself.
