I went to Algarve for the first time ever. I have traveled to many places and also in Portugal but Algarve was an unexplored destination for me.
How to get there:
It is actually very easy to get there. There are many direct flights from London and Paris and it is only a 2 hour journey on the plane. You fly to Faro airport and then it is a 40 min. car drive which is a beautiful drive. You are driving in green nature and you already feel so far from the big city life.
Grand House Algarve:
The hotel is a charming hotel with 31 rooms and suites. The interior is very colonial which makes you feel like you are on a Caribbean Island. The rooms are fairly big and you have a view of the harbour. The boats and the sea view are very relaxing for your mind.
As soon as I saw this view, I opened the windows and laid down in the comfortable bed to just enjoy the moment and relax my body and mind.
The hotel has a colonial styled restaurant where there is a breakfast buffet and a la carte menu is available. The restaurant is also open for dinner where traditional Algarvian food is on the menu. The seafood ravioli which I had was absolutely delicious and very fresh.
Also, the local wine from Portugal is underestimated. Both the red and white wine I tasted was delicious – full bodied and fruity.
During the day you can enjoy the Beach House, which is a part of the hotel. The hotel staff is very accommodating and are happy to bring you there by a 5 min. car drive, but I walked there, which is 2,5 km. walk along the harbour promenade.
The Beach House is super cute and on the edge of the coast. It is on the beach and you also have a swimming pool for the ones who are not into salty sea water. (But the water in both the swimming pool and beach is freezing cold).
The Beach House has a charming restaurant where you have the option to sit in- or outside. The menu is fairly big so you will for sure be able to find something for your taste; patron peppers, salt baked fish, burger, pizza among other yummy courses.
Grand House Algarve is very ambitious on both service and food and you feel very welcomed and like home when you stay here.
Santo Antonio village is a quiet and not a touristy place and therefore perfect for a relaxing weekend getaway.
I arrived on Friday afternoon and departed on Sunday afternoon. I can highly recommend staying 2 nights here where you will enjoy sun, food, and a beautiful hotel. You will not miss anything and you will feel satisfied and fully recharged to get back to your daily life wherever you live.
Below are pictures from my stay:
Thank you for this time Grand House Algarve
I cannot wait to be back again.
